Job Title: Sanitation AssociateJob Description

The Sanitation Associate maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary production environment by cleaning machinery, equipment, and facilities, while performing a wide range of janitorial and housekeeping duties in a food manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize production machines and equipment according to established procedures and food safety standards.
  • Perform general janitorial duties, including sweeping, mopping, and removing trash throughout the facility.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in production, manufacturing, and common areas to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Use appropriate chemicals and cleaning agents safely and effectively to sanitize equipment and work areas.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), at all times.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment while performing cleaning tasks.
  • Operate or be willing to operate a forklift as needed to support cleaning and sanitation activities.
  • Lift and move materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks.
  • Stand and work on feet for 8–12 hours per day while performing repetitive cleaning and sanitation activities.
  • Support production and manufacturing teams by keeping work areas free of debris, spills, and contamination risks.
  • Comply with all facility rules regarding cleanliness, attire, and personal items to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Work scheduled shifts and be available for required overtime on Fridays as business needs require.
  • Arrive early for pre-shift temperature screening and complete any required pre-shift safety or hygiene checks.
Essential Skills
  • Recent experience working in a general labor, construction, manufacturing, or similar general labor environment within the last 5 years.
  • At least 1 year of continuous employment with the same company within the last 5 years.
  • Ability to stand for 8–12 hours per day, demonstrated through prior work experience and references.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, verified through past experience and references.
  • Willingness and ability to drive a forklift as required.
  • Experience with cleaning, sweeping, and general housekeeping in an industrial or production environment.
  • Familiarity with sanitation, sanitizing, and food safety practices in a manufacturing or food production setting.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and safety protocols.
  • Preference for candidates with a High School Diploma or GED, though it is not required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience as an industrial cleaner in a production or food manufacturing facility.
  • Hands-on experience with janitorial duties, including housekeeping and facility maintenance.
  • Comfort working with cleaning chemicals and understanding of safe handling procedures.
  • Strong reliability and work ethic, with a history of consistent attendance and performance.
  • Ability to work both first shift (6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday–Thursday) and second shift (4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., Monday–Thursday), as required by business needs.
  • Flexibility to work overtime on Fridays when needed.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in a food production environment.

Work Environment

The workplace is a small-town, family-like facility with approximately 30 full-time employees, fostering a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. The environment operates under strict safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices, with a strong focus on food safety and sanitation. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, hair net, eye protection, jeans, shirt, bump cap, and lab coat. Team members must follow hygiene rules, including no smoking or tobacco products at the facility, no perfume or cologne, no fingernail polish, no jewelry, and no piercings while on duty. Clothing must be free of rips, tears, holes, or added embellishments. The temperature can be warm, and some manufacturing rooms may reach up to 90 degrees in the summer, while conditions remain comfortable during the winter. Shifts run Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for first shift and from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. for second shift, with required overtime on Fridays as needed. Employees arrive 15 minutes before their shift for temperature screening, and this time is paid.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $22.00/hr.
