Our client, a respected healthcare organization in Trumbull, CT, is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Registration Specialist to join their team. This position plays a vital role in creating a positive patient experience by serving as the first point of contact for patients and ensuring the accurate collection and verification of demographic, insurance, and financial information.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and welcoming manner.
  • Register new patients and update existing patient information in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, coverage, and authorization requirements.
  • Collect and process patient copayments, deductibles, and outstanding balances.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy of demographic, insurance, and medical information.
  • Obtain required patient signatures and documentation.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and address patient inquiries.
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Coordinate with clinical, billing, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient services.
  • Resolve registration issues and insurance discrepancies in a timely manner.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • 1+ years of patient registration, medical reception, medical office, or healthcare administrative experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance plans, eligibility verification, and patient intake procedures.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems.
  • Strong data entry and computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
