Job Title: Maintenance Technician ***Up to $33 with Premiums
Job Description
This 3rd shift Maintenance Technician role focuses on maintaining, servicing, and repairing plant equipment in a clean food manufacturing facility. You perform preventive maintenance, complete work orders, and ensure production machinery operates safely and efficiently. The position is based at a manufacturing plant in Sparta, Michigan and works on a weekday night shift, with no weekend work because a dedicated weekend crew is in place.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and service mechanical equipment, machinery, and components to support continuous production operations.
- Perform skilled repair services on mechanical, electrical, and building systems and equipment to minimize downtime.
- Conduct periodic inspections of equipment and systems to evaluate condition and identify repair or maintenance needs.
- Review maintenance requests and determine appropriate corrective actions and timelines.
- Identify parts and materials needed for repair or replacement and place orders as necessary to ensure timely completion of work.
- Supervise or coordinate the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of switches, cables, and other related equipment to ensure optimum usage and product quality.
- Schedule and coordinate installation support and service operations to align with production requirements.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and accurately complete associated work orders and documentation.
- Ensure all maintenance and repair work complies with company requirements, standards, and procedures.
- Follow and promote established safety procedures and practices in all maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with production and other plant teams to resolve equipment issues and improve reliability.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring problems and suggesting long-term solutions.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of industrial machine repair experience in a manufacturing or plant environment.
- Hands-on experience repairing hydraulic systems and components.
- Experience repairing conveyors, fillers, labelers, and sensors used in production lines.
- Ability to perform mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs on plant equipment.
- Skill in performing preventive maintenance and completing detailed work orders.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and ability to work safely around moving machinery and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, diagrams, and work instructions.
- Organizational skills to schedule and coordinate maintenance, installation, and service activities.
- Ability to identify required parts and materials and manage ordering processes.
- Clear communication skills to work effectively with maintenance leadership and production teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Food manufacturing experience is highly preferred and considered a strong asset.
- Experience working with clean manufacturing processes and standards.
- Familiarity with building systems maintenance in a production facility.
- Comfort working independently on a 3rd shift with limited direct supervision.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to diagnose complex equipment issues.
- Attention to detail in documentation and adherence to company procedures.

Work Environment

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
