Job Description
This is a part-time position for our Rockford office. Once a larger client base is built, additional hours/days will be offered.
Job Summary: The licensed esthetician in the Skin Revitalizing Center performs a variety of facial and body treatments to meet client’s expectations. Must be compassionate and discreet, as well as knowledgeable with the latest trends in the skin care industry.
Job Duties and Functions
- Provides skincare services to our clients in a competent and safe manner. Some of the treatments offered are: microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, DiamondGlow, SkinPen microneedling, medical grade chemical peels, and milia extractions.
- Provides personalized consultations, addressing client needs and recommending appropriate treatments that are compatible with their skin type and desired outcomes.
- Provides detailed and concise pre-treatment and post treatment instructions – as well as client education on contraindications and possible side effects of esthetic treatments.
- Stays current on the latest trends in skincare and laser treatments and proposes enhancements and variety to our product and treatment options.
- Presents a warm and welcoming persona to guests and coworkers alike.
- Maintains knowledge of all available products and demonstrates the ability to confidently make recommendations as needed.
- Maintains inventory of products and assists with the development of monthly specials and promotional materials.
- Works with the team on the coordination of a large-scale annual community event.
- Actively builds repeat clientele and fosters long lasting relationships with them by providing stellar service.
- Follows HIPAA guidelines at all times to ensure that patient privacy is always protected.
- Mentors and trains new estheticians as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of departmental processes and protocols, participates in learning opportunities, all-staff training sessions, special projects, etc. as directed by the site manager
- Maintains a well-polished and professional appearance by being attentive to their attire, grooming and personal hygiene.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Since the work is appointment driven, there are times that those appointments are back to back which requires excellent time management skills.
- Meticulous charting skills in the EMR reflected in a high level of attention to detail in all patient interactions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Outlines realistic expectations for each product and treatment sold. Goes over consents in detail as well as all pre and post care instructions. Understands the contraindications of each treatment and educates patient accordingly.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees, physicians, and management. Estheticians often work collaboratively with physicians and PAs regarding specific skin conditions.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of the patients and create an environment that fosters trust.
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and recognizes the need for cost containment by following practices that minimize waste.
Educational and Certification Requirements
- 2+ years of esthetics experience. Experience in a medical setting preferred.
- Current esthetics license required.
Physical Requirements
Physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand and/or sit for long periods while performing treatments. Frequent bending and reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching are also expected.
- Acute sense of hearing and smelling. This helps identify when equipment malfunctions.
- Must have excellent manual dexterity to be able to operate laser devices safely and accurately and also to handle instruments and other small objects like brushes and applicators.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to focus. Requires visual acuity and normal color perception.
- May occasionally push or move equipment, product boxes and carry and handle laundry.
Environmental Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in a clinical environment and stand for an extended period of time. Must be able to work on an iPad and a desktop.
- Frequently exposed to cosmetic products, treatment solutions and disinfectants. Often these products have a strong chemical odor. Must be willing to use PPE like gloves and face shields or masks.

- High – information access is detailed and sensitive to an individual’s demographics, service information, and personal medical history (past/present medical conditions, specifics of medical diagnosis or tests, treatment plans, and family history).

Special note: Due to the unique operational needs of our clinics, we may request that our employees work in a different site from the one they were originally scheduled in. Sometimes these requests are planned and sometimes they are spontaneous and could be after the employee has reported to work for the day. Reasons for these requests vary but they are mainly is to ensure coverage in case of high patient volume, unscheduled absences from other staff, etc. Therefore, we require all our employees to have a valid and unrestricted driver’s license. Mileage reimbursement will be paid in accordance with our Mileage Reimbursement Policy.
