The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Environmental, Health & Safety programs that ensure compliance with OSHA/MIOSHA regulations while supporting a safe and productive manufacturing environment.
This is a highly visible, hands-on role requiring daily interaction with employees, supervisors, and leadership.
What You'll Do
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Investigate workplace injuries, incidents, and near misses.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, and company safety standards.
- Manage PPE programs, inventory, and supplier coordination.
- Coordinate employee safety training and new hire orientation.
- Maintain OSHA logs and required safety documentation.
- Support workers' compensation and return-to-work programs.
- Partner with Operations to eliminate hazards and improve workplace safety.
- Participate in customer, internal, and regulatory audits.
- Track safety KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA regulations.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Experience delivering employee safety training.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive manufacturing experience.
- Union manufacturing experience.
- Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- ASP or CSP certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
