About this job
Job Description
We're an ambitious local car lessor in the Phoenix, Arizona area. We specifically lease vehicles to people in the rideshare, delivery, or food delivery industry. Within the last 2 years, we've gone from 5 to over 200 vehicles, and hope to be the largest rideshare rental company in town within the next 2. This is one business out of the 20+ we own and operate here in town, so we have access to resources that other businesses may not.
We are also opening a second location in Mesa in late 2026, so there are opportunities for individuals to transfer over if that's preferable for them. The job posting is specifically for our Phoenix location however.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a Lube Technician/Car Preparer to join our team. The job would primarily be focused on performing basic maintenance (oil changes, tire replacement, brakes/rotors, and we can train you on more if you want to do more) on our fleet for both existing customers, and cars that are yet to be rented. You would also spend a portion of your time getting cars ready to rent - both newly purchased, and ones recently returned. This includes ensuring its in good mechanical shape, its clean, free of odors, and meets our other requirements for ready rentals. This is not something we do often, but you could also help us part out our crashed cars which is a really good experience for learning.
Our fleet is unique compared to other company fleets. We stock one specific type and generation of vehicle, so all the parts, repairs, diagnoses, etc. are exactly the same. This makes the job a bit easier in some ways, and also makes the list of tools necessary a lot shorter. It also means that a lot of what we do is teachable in a short amount of time. It also allows us to just keep every part necessary in stock, there's no waiting on parts or trying to find them, we've got them all here, ready to go.
I think we have a pretty unique environment here. The current mechanics all have a very strong team mentality, and everyone adjusts as needed to help others if they're overloaded, or to shift priorities due to customer needs. We believe strongly in supporting our own, and are willing to train the right person up to do this work. While work is assigned, our mechanics are somewhat open to work on what they'd like to. If there's something they want to work on in order to learn, then they're more than welcome to, and they won't be punished if they make a mistake along the way. Our current mechanics have worked their way up from oil changes to much more complex work, and we've welcomed the ambition every step of the way. We will purchase all the tools necessary for the right employee, and we will give them their own bay and space in our shop to work in and customize as they see fit.
The right person for this job is someone who takes pride in their work and their workspace, and is ready to help their coworkers, the shop, and the business at a moment's notice. You're someone who notices that someone near you needs your assistance, and helps without a second thought however they can. You also are open to learning and understand that despite your past experiences, there might be something here you may not know. You're constantly curious about why something is happening, and how we can get to a solution now and in the future.
We can and will teach you a lot if you're open to it. We took a young, motivated guy with very limited knowledge to building engines within a year. We're open to teaching those that want to learn and do more. The only limitation would be your willingness and drive to learn and grow as a mechanic.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance on leased vehicles including oil changes, changing engine/cabin filters, changing/patching/plugging tires, replacing headlights, other minor maintenance
- Perform inspections on cars to ensure they're road ready on new cars, and cars that have been previously rented
- Preparing cars to be rented by cleaning and detailing the cars up to our standards (we have high standards on car cleanliness when they go back out, but we will train you)
- Communicate maintenance performed and future needs to customers
- Identifying other possible problems with cars while performing regular maintenance
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a mechanic
- Knowledge of shop equipment
- Some ability to work independently
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Trainable - we are absolutely open to teaching the right person how we do things here
