We are looking to hire a "CNC Maintenance Mechanic (Level A & B)" in Commerce, CA 90040. This is a Contract-to-Hire opportunity to join our FLAG Team!
2nd Shift CNC Maintenance Mechanic (Level A & B)
Location: Commerce, CA 90040
Shift: 2nd Shift | Monday – Friday | 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM
Pay Rate:
- Mechanic Level A: $31.42 – $37.00/hour DOE
- Mechanic Level B: $29.52 – $35.00/hour DOE
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Position Summary
We are seeking experienced CNC Maintenance Mechanics (Levels A & B) to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize CNC machinery and production equipment in a high-volume aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability through preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and corrective repairs while minimizing downtime and supporting continuous production.
The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical and electrical maintenance background, experience servicing CNC equipment, and the ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on CNC machines and production equipment
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Maintain and repair:
- CNC Lathes
- CNC Mills
- Multi-Spindle Machines
- Production Equipment
- Industrial Machinery
- Calibrate and adjust CNC equipment to maintain machining accuracy and production efficiency
- Monitor equipment performance and proactively identify potential failures
- Read and interpret:
- Mechanical blueprints
- Electrical schematics
- Hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
- Technical manuals
- Utilize hand tools, precision measuring instruments, electrical test equipment, and diagnostic tools
- Replace motors, bearings, belts, ball screws, pumps, valves, sensors, switches, relays, and other machine components
- Troubleshoot CNC controls, electrical systems, and machine automation
- Maintain accurate preventative maintenance and repair documentation using CMMS or maintenance logs
- Work closely with production personnel to minimize downtime and maximize equipment uptime
- Train machine operators on proper machine operation and basic preventative maintenance
- Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives
- Follow OSHA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and all company safety procedures
- Work overtime as needed to support production schedules
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, CNC Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred
- Previous experience as a CNC Maintenance Mechanic or Industrial Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of:
- CNC machine maintenance
- Mechanical systems
- Industrial electrical systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Preventative maintenance programs
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Experience using hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and electrical diagnostic instruments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment background screening and drug testing
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace manufacturing experience
- Experience maintaining Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Siemens, or Haas CNC control systems
- PLC troubleshooting experience
- Knowledge of:
- Servo Motors
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Industrial Controls
- Machine Automation
- Lean Manufacturing
- TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching
- Ability to work safely around moving industrial machinery
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, oils, coolants, and metalworking fluids
Work Environment
This position operates in a precision aerospace manufacturing facility with exposure to:
- CNC machining centers
- Industrial electrical and mechanical equipment
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Coolants, lubricants, and metalworking fluids
- Noise, vibration, and moving machinery
