Job Description
Infant/Toddler Assistant Teacher
Location: Elkhart, IN 46517 (In-Person)
Pay: Competitive, based on experience & education
About the Role
Are you passionate about helping the tiny humans of the world grow, learn, and thrive? We are looking for a gentle, enthusiastic, and dedicated Infant/Toddler Assistant Teacher to join our tight-knit team!
In this role, you’ll partner with our Lead Teacher to create a cozy, vibrant, and safe space for our infants and toddlers. From celebrating first steps and new words to leading sensory play and singing favorite songs, you’ll play a key role in shaping early childhood development when it matters most.
What You’ll Do
Nurture & Play (Classroom Support)
- Partner with the Lead Teacher to bring fun, age-appropriate play and developmental activities to life.
- Assist with essential daily routines, including feeding, diapering, naptime, and outdoor play.
- Keep our space cozy, clean, safe, and organized so little ones can explore freely.
Guide Growth (Child Development)
- Support emotional, social, and physical milestones through attentive care, gentle guidance, and endless encouragement.
- Keep an eye on children's progress, documenting fun moments and growth to share with the team and families.
Keep Spaces Safe (Health & Safety)
- Keep safety top-of-mind by actively supervising play and movement at all times.
- Maintain clean and sanitized classroom spaces, toys, and equipment following state hygiene standards.
Connect & Collaborate (Family & Teamwork)
- Help build warm, reassuring relationships with parents by sharing daily updates on their little one’s day.
- Bring a positive, collaborative energy to our team through regular staff connection, training, and everyday teamwork.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: At least 1 year of prior childcare experience is required. You know the rhythm of working with young children and love every minute of it!
- CDA License: A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or ECE coursework is preferred—but not required! If you bring the passion and experience, we are excited to train and support you.
- Age Requirement: Must be 21 or older (per state licensing regulations for infant care).
- Clearances: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening prior to start.
- Education & Certifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Current CPR & First Aid certification (or a willingness to get certified upon hire).
- Relocation: Must be located in or willing to relocate to Elkhart, IN 46517 before starting.
Skills That Make You Great
- Warmth, patience, flexibility, and a high-energy love for infants and toddlers.
- Clear, kind, and professional communication with teammates and parents.
- Physical ability to keep up with active little ones—lifting up to 30 lbs, bending, sitting on the floor, and standing throughout the day.
Perks & Benefits
- Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Professional Development Assistance (We love helping our team grow!)
- A supportive, collaborative environment where your work makes a visible impact every single day.
