Scrap Yard CDL Equipment Operator

Job Summary

A growing scrap metal recycling facility is seeking a dependable CDL Driver / Equipment Operator to join their team. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in commercial driving, equipment operation, material handling, recycling, construction, warehouse operations, or industrial environments.

The successful candidate will support daily yard operations by transporting materials, operating equipment, assisting customers, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This is a hands-on role with opportunities for long-term employment and skill development.


Key Responsibilities

• Operate company vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently
• Transport and move scrap metal materials throughout the yard and surrounding areas
• Load, unload, sort, and process recyclable materials
• Assist customers with unloading scrap materials
• Operate forklifts, cranes, loaders, and other heavy equipment (training provided)
• Perform general yard and labor duties as needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment
• Follow all company safety procedures and equipment guidelines
• Complete daily inspections and report equipment concerns

Qualifications

• Valid CDL required (Class A or B preferred)
• Previous experience operating equipment, driving commercially, or working in a yard/industrial setting preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment
• Ability to perform physical labor in an outdoor environment
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
• Ability to safely lift, move, and handle materials
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards

Schedule

Monday through Friday 8am – 4:30 PM

Compensation

Starting pay: $25.00 per hour and up (DOE)
