Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

This role supports a high-volume manufacturing operation that uses a closed-loop system to recycle post-production polycarbonate and PVC scrap into new thermoplastic products. The general laborer works across different functions on the production line, such as palletizing and performing quality inspections on plastic sheets used in applications like protective plexiglass for restaurants, schools, and businesses. The position requires a versatile individual who can adapt to various tasks while maintaining safety, quality, and production standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and support a closed-loop recycling and manufacturing system that repurposes post-production polycarbonate and PVC scrap into new thermoplastic products.
  • Assist with multiple functions on the production line, including palletizing finished plastic sheets and organizing materials for shipment or further processing.
  • Perform quality inspections on plastic sheets to ensure they meet established standards and specifications.
  • Work as part of a team running a production line that is managed as an individual entity, coordinating tasks and communicating effectively with coworkers.
  • Support production line activities such as general labor, replenishing materials, unloading and loading materials, and other material handling tasks as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and performing job duties in a manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient and safe production operations.
  • Adapt to different roles and responsibilities on the line based on production needs and direction from leadership.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of experience in manufacturing or production environments.
  • Experience working on a production line or in general labor roles within a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to perform material handling tasks, including replenishments, unloading, and loading materials.
  • Familiarity with operating or supporting machine operations in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Understanding of basic safety practices in a manufacturing or production facility.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team on a production line.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a 24/7 manufacturing operation, including potential shifts that support continuous production.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with plastics or thermoplastic products in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience as a machine operator in manufacturing or production.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production setting with evolving responsibilities.
  • Interest in learning new tasks and taking on additional responsibilities as the production line grows.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Smithsville, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $21.50/hr.
