Mon-Fri 630-1500 13 week contract call every other day and every other weekendDuties:
\n Job Summary:
\n Assist surgeon in performing surgical procedures. Functions as surgeon’s chief assistant in the operating room. Supervised by the department director and nurse manager. Assignments received from the charge nurse and/or RN in charge of the room.
\n Job Responsibilities:
\n -Scrubbing into cases.
\n -Assist primary scrub with set-up and opening of sterile supplies.
\n -Make sure instruments and supplies are available for the scheduled case.
\n -Setting up cases ensuring that all instruments are thoroughly sterilized.
\n -Maintain the sterile field during case set up.
\n -Alerts the circulating nurse of any identified risks or variance from standard operating procedures.
\n -Assist circulating RN with patient positioning
\n -Assist with sterile draping
\n -Assists RN with circulating duties as needed to carry out the appropriate interventions.
\n -Passes instruments
\n -Assists physician as needed
\n -May be asked to clamp, cauterize, tie and apply ligating clamps, hemostatic clips and place hemostatic
\n agents on vessels and tissue.
\n -May be asked to apply running or interrupted sutures on wound layers from muscle, fascia, subcutaneous, and skin.
\n -First assists in cardiothoracic procedures and other surgical procedures: performs surgical procedure
\n independently as directed and supervised by physician, including but not limited to saphenous vein
\n harvesting (open and endoscopic); after successfully completing an approved course on saphenous vein
\n harvesting.
\n -Maintain sterile field throughout case.
\n -Works with circulating nurse, and orderlies to perform post-case cleaning duties
\n -Is responsible for point-of-use cleaning of instruments, including breaking down instruments for further
\n cleaning in Central Sterile Processing
\n -Responsible for following all standards for instrument transport and return to Central Sterile
\n -Will notify appropriate leader if there are any damaged instruments at the end of the case
\n -Ensures surgical suite is disinfected and ready for the next procedure.
Please note, this position is for a CVOR CFA. Please only submit candidates that have CVOR experience.
