American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring an active IA or Compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

- Acute care setting within a Critical Access Hospital (CAH), ranked in the top 20 CAHs nationally with full TeleHospital medicine services \n
- Primary assignment on a 14-bed Med/Surg unit with float to the ED for support \n
- Patient population includes CHF, pneumonia, skilled PT/OT patients, antibiotic therapy, and at times cardiac or diabetic Progressive Care level patients — no consultation services on unit \n
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 with nurse aides/patient care techs available (1:10 ratio) \n
- Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment \n
- Set-rate drips (primarily antibiotics) administered; RNs are not required to titrate drips \n
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM \n
- Every third weekend required \n
- Holiday rotation with core staff as needed \n
- EMR: Epic \n

- Active IA or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted \n
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required \n
- Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC — pending certifications are not accepted \n
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire \n
- Valid driver's license required for consideration (used to verify permanent residence address) \n
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility \n
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year — candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered \n

- Nurses must be capable of working independently with reduced resources, as is typical in a critical access hospital setting \n
- Ideal candidates demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and confidence in their clinical skills, with a strong focus on quality and safe patient care \n
- Unit is staffed by a small, experienced, and collaborative team \n
- 2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided \n
- A pass/fail, open-book skills exam is administered during orientation — a minimum score of 90% is required to pass; failure to pass will result to contract termination \n
- Navy blue scrubs required; artificial nails are strictly prohibited in all patient care areas — refusal to remove them will result in contract termination \n
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after consideration \n
