Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position at a community hospital, requiring at least 1 year of experience and AHA BLS certification.

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit at a community hospital
\n
• Patient ratio of 1:7
\n
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
\n
• 36-hour weekly work commitment
\n
• 13-week contract
\n
• Charting system experience required (any EMR accepted)
\n
• Skills include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, respiratory support (nasal cannula, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management), use of rapid response/code teams, and isolation precautions/PPE
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active VA or Compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
\n
• AHA BLS certification required (AHA certifications only)
\n
• NIHSS certification preferred
\n
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
\n
• Experience with a 1:7 patient ratio
\n
• Two supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
\n
• Drug test must be completed within 12–14 calendar days prior to start date
\n
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines
\n

• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the hospital's service area; local candidates are not accepted
\n
• General orientation begins on Sundays with online computer-based learning (CBLs); modules average 4–5 hours and are completed during orientation
\n
• Charge nurse experience preferred
\n
• Community hospital and teaching hospital experience preferred
\n
• Travel nursing experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome to apply
\n
• Contract RNs are expected to actively participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside their regular patient care duties
\n
• RTO (requested time off) must be submitted at the time of consideration
