Job Description
Position Summary:
We are looking for our next CAD manager to join our team in our Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, Durango, Gunnison, or Denver, CO office. The role will be filling a vacancy due to retirement. The incumbent will have the opportunity to work with the outgoing manager for a transition period. The CAD manager will work on a variety of projects related to land development, traffic/transportation, drainage, utility, and water/wastewater systems for private and municipal clients. Typical projects will require the generation of construction plan sets in accordance with design and drafting standards of various review agencies. Typical elements of these projects include site layout, storm drainage, roads and pathways, grading plans, concrete and asphalt hardscape design including curb, gutter and sidewalks, utility infrastructure, water, sewer and storm sewer systems, and erosion and sediment control plans.
The position also is responsible for developing and maintaining company-wide CAD standards, managing a team of 3 CAD drafters, working with staff from throughout the organization to develop and implement workflows and design processes to make the most efficient use of CAD programs and tools, training and mentoring engineers in the efficient use of CAD programs and tools, and providing QA/QC review of CAD team work and CAD aspects of work performed by engineers. The incumbent will also be responsible for CAD support in our Branch offices located in Gunnison, Durango, and Grand Junction.

Salary is DOE: $92,664-$124,280
Typical duties and responsibilities of this position are:
- Prepare complete sets of civil construction drawings using Civil 3D, including sheet setup, plans, profiles, notes, and details.
- Work with Engineers to design and lay out a project using Civil 3D upon receiving sufficient design information.
- Manage digital files per company standards.
- Produce plans that conform to company design and drafting standards, minimizing QA/QC review time.
- Generate plans from scratch as well as handling redlines from engineers and project managers
- Manage workload and work product of company-wide CAD team.
- Coordinate use of drafting tools between different disciplines, e.g., Civil 3D, Revit, Plant 3D & MicroStation.
- Develop and maintain company-wide CAD standards.
- Make Edits to Civil 3D DWT Templates.
- Develop and implement workflows and design processes.
- Provide QA/QC review of CAD team’s work.
- Train and mentor engineers in the efficient use of CAD programs and tools.
Job Requirements:
- Progressive experience with CAD drafting and design with Civil 3D.
- Strong Civil 3D design experience.
- Experience with Surfaces, Alignments, Profiles, Corridors and Pipe and Pressure networks.
- Knowledge of earthwork calculations.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team to successfully deliver projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Ability to work independently when needed and be self-motivated.
- Experience developing and maintaining CAD standards.
- Experience providing CAD training and mentoring to co-workers.
- Progressive supervisory experience.
Additional Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in CAD and/or certification in Civil 3D.
- Experience with CDOT plan preparation and/or Microstation.
- Water/Wastewater treatment plant and piping design experience.
- Experience with Autodesk Infraworks.
- Familiarity with GIS workflows.
