Job Summary
Serve as a critical leadership pillar alongside the Director of Maintenance (DOM) in a top-tier general aviation facility. This role requires an authoritative, long-term-minded professional to supervise an exceptional team of technicians, manage complex workflow schedules, ensure absolute regulatory compliance, and seamlessly run daily operations in the DOM's absence.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate daily maintenance activities, allocate technician assignments, and optimize aircraft turnaround times within budget constraints
Ensure uncompromising compliance with all FAA regulations and manage meticulous maintenance documentation
Support internal audits and the continuous upkeep of company quality manuals
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior mechanics to cultivate a culture of safety, accountability, and professional development
Serve as the primary professional liaison to customers and vendors, providing clear technical explanations, cost estimates, and maintenance updates
Assume full operational authority and responsibilities of the Director of Maintenance during their absence or delegation
Drive key performance indicators (KPIs), including rework reduction, maintenance efficiency, and safety performance
Minimum Requirements
Valid and current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
Active Inspection Authorization (IA) credential, or demonstrably in the active process of obtaining one
Minimum of 5 years of dedicated aircraft maintenance experience, with the most recent consecutive years operating directly within a General Aviation (GA) environment
Minimum of 2 years of recent, proven experience in a Lead A&P, Supervisor, or Maintenance Management capacity
Strict requirement of previous experience working within a Part 145 Repair Station environment
Comprehensive working knowledge of FAR Parts 43, 65, 91, 135, and 145
Proficiency with digital aircraft maintenance tracking software and Microsoft Office
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history
Physical capability to stand, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, and work occasional weekends or evenings as operational needs dictate
Ideal Qualifications
Extensive hands-on experience maintaining GA piston aircraft platforms, such as Piper, Diamond, and Cessna
