Store Manager On Duty (Grocery/ Retail)

Sunflower Market is seeking a Store Manager on Duty for our natural foods store in Rhinebeck, NY. In this role, you will ensure smooth store operations, store security, and prompt, friendly, courteous customer service during designated shifts. As the Manager on Duty, you will provide direction to staff members and be responsible for resolving complaints that can’t be solved by other employees. You will set an example for the rest of the staff and take charge during any emergencies.

Schedule: Full-time (37.5+ hours / week) between the hours of 8am – 7:30pm; must have flexible availability, including at least one evening and one weekend shift per week.

What You’ll Do as the Store Manager On Duty (Responsibilities):

• Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service to staff and customers, including responding to suggestions, comments, and complaints
• Maintain security of store during shift
• Ensure phone is answered promptly and calls are routed appropriately
• Keep store in clean, orderly condition
• Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns as needed
• Deal with shoplifters, disorderly customers, and medical emergencies
• Observe status of each department and report discrepancies, out-of-stocks, performance problems, or other conditions to department staff
• Inform staff of promotions, changes, and other upcoming events or store issues
• Take disciplinary action as needed
• Report issues to store manager in a timely manner

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications):

• Previous management experience, preferably in a grocery or retail environment
• Experience serving the public and providing exceptional customer service
• Familiarity with natural foods is preferred
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Flexible availability, including at least one evening and one weekend shift per week

Pay: $18+ / hour, based on experience
