Job Description
Do you turn SolidWorks models into real machines? Can you read FEA outputs and make fast, confident design decisions? Have you led designs for extrusion presses, billet loaders, and complex handling systems? If so, Dunaway wants you as the go-to engineer who reports directly to our President/Owner.
Your impact- Architect and model complete extrusion presses and material handling systems in 3D.
- Deconstruct legacy equipment to repair, enhance, and modernize performance.
- Collaborate with field services to troubleshoot and restore uptime.
- Plan and manage the relocation and installation of presses, lines, and billet heaters.
- Contribute to proposals by assisting with scope and cost estimates.
- Travel 10%–15%, varying with workload, for on-site assessments and installs.
- 10+ years in industrial machine/equipment design.
- Track record scheduling jobs through a shop to keep machinists and assemblers fully engaged.
- Manufacturing drawings expertise (2D) using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Hydraulics know-how for new designs and field troubleshooting.
- Applied FEA experience with mainstream analysis tools.
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and components.
- Direct experience in aluminum extrusion (design and troubleshooting).
- SolidWorks plus CAM workflow experience.
- 3+ years focused on aluminum extrusion presses and related equipment: billet loaders, stems, containers, tie rods, etc.
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Project management; hands-on machine building/assembly oversight.
- CAD mastery and strong mechanical design & engineering acumen.
- Product development experience; pneumatics troubleshooting capability.
- FEA literacy and practical application.
- 3D modeling and 2D detailing.
- Industrial controls and extrusion machinery.
- AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CAM software.
- Allen‑Bradley PLCs.
