The Medical Records Assistant position at SCI-Waymart gives you the chance to support important health care operations within the facility. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role supports the health care operations of SCI-Waymart by preparing, organizing, and maintaining medical records in multiple formats. The work ensures that all information is complete, accurate, and ready for use by authorized staff. As a Medical Records Assistant, you will perform the following duties:
- Record Preparation: Maintain paper, electronic, and film medical records and ensure accuracy and completeness
- Information Handling: File, issue, withdraw, and transfer records while following confidentiality and legal requirements
- Archiving Duties: Archive inactive paper, electronic, and film records and prepare materials for the State Records Center
- Tracking Logs: Monitor and update logs related to release of information and record requests
- Report Preparation: Compile statistical reports and verify medical coding for management use

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of clerical experience maintaining or reviewing medical records, transcribing dictated or recorded medical information, or conducting medical abstracting and coding; or
- Graduation from an accredited medical secretarial, medical records, medical transcription, medical assisting, medical coding, or health information management program; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
