In the County Caseworker 1 position with Washington County Children and Youth Services, you will help guide children, youth, and families toward positive change. This role provides meaningful opportunities to support people during important moments in their lives. You will gain hands-on experience while working in a supportive and professional environment. This position focuses on helping children, youth, and families reach better social, emotional, physical, and economic stability. You will apply casework skills to gather information, counsel clients, and connect them with resources. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Client Support: Assist children, youth, and families in working toward improved social and emotional adjustment
- Information Gathering: Collect essential background details needed to understand client needs
- Counseling Services: Provide guidance to clients and family members as they address challenges
- Resource Coordination: Help clients make use of available community and agency supports
- Training Participation: Engage in required classroom and fieldwork training under supervision during the probationary period
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position includes working evening and weekend hours, as well as performing on-call duties.
- This position will automatically progress to a Caseworker II after completion of one year of service at an hourly rate of $27.23 per hour ($53,098.50/year).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
