Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Phlebotomist I to join their team in a fast-paced Patient Service Center. This role involves performing venipuncture, specimen collection, processing, and handling while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with laboratory procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Collect blood, urine, and other specimens following established procedures.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and prepare specimens for testing and transport.
  • Verify patient information and match laboratory requisitions to specimen labels.
  • Package and store specimens according to required temperature and transport protocols.
  • Update patient information and maintain specimen records.
  • Perform equipment maintenance, decontamination, and record maintenance data.
  • Understand and follow physician orders and laboratory procedures.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and communicate laboratory results as appropriate.
  • Participate in annual department training and contribute to workflow improvements.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience performing venipuncture in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification required where mandated by state regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Spanish-speaking candidates are preferred.

Additional Information:

  • Fast-paced, friendly Patient Service Center environment.
  • Expected to perform 25-35 blood draws per day.
  • Approximately 1,200 sq. ft. facility.
  • Work closely with a team.
  • 1-2 weeks of training provided at the start of the assignment.
  • Standing duration varies depending on patient volume.
