Job Title: Commercial Plumbing TechnicianJob Description

This role focuses on installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in commercial environments such as offices, schools, hospitals, and retail facilities. The technician ensures that all plumbing systems operate safely and efficiently, follow applicable codes and standards, and meet the needs of diverse commercial clients.

Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, and maintain water, gas, and other piping systems in commercial buildings.
  • Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems and the materials required.
  • Install plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, water fountains, and related components.
  • Test plumbing systems for leaks using air or water pressure gauges and document test results as needed.
  • Ensure all plumbing work complies with local and national building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Perform emergency plumbing repairs promptly and efficiently to minimize downtime and disruption.
  • Coordinate with construction teams, project managers, and other trades to ensure plumbing projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide accurate cost estimates for plumbing services and explain proposed work clearly to clients.
  • Install, service, and repair water heaters and associated components.
  • Design, install, and maintain drainage systems to ensure proper flow and prevent blockages.
  • Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment safely and effectively for plumbing tasks.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on plumbing systems, including inspections, adjustments, and minor repairs.
  • Support field service activities by traveling to customer sites, diagnosing issues, and performing on-site installations and repairs.
  • Work on plumbing systems integrated with HVAC and hydraulic equipment as required by the project.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper handling and storage of tools, materials, and equipment.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial plumbing systems, including pipes, fittings, and fixtures.
  • Ability to work confidently with copper piping for installation and repair tasks.
  • Experience working with PVC and cast iron piping materials in commercial settings.
  • Strong mechanical skills and proficiency in using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and plumbing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications related to plumbing layouts.
  • Knowledge of local and national building codes and regulations and the ability to ensure work remains in compliance.
  • Experience designing, installing, and maintaining drainage systems for commercial facilities.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues efficiently and implement effective solutions.
  • Skills in installing, maintaining, and repairing water heaters.
  • Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and safe work practices.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks such as digging, lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and standing or bending for extended periods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes of issues and determine the most effective repair or maintenance approach.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with other workers, project teams, and clients, and to explain work performed or recommended.
  • Experience with field service work, including on-site diagnostics, repair, and customer interaction.
  • Capability to perform installation and preventive maintenance work on plumbing systems in commercial environments.

Work Environment

Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to meet safety and job-site standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $30.00/hr.
