Job Title: Welder and Fitter
Job Description
This role focuses on welding and fitting custom metal components for industrial systems, with a strong emphasis on sawdust collection and disposal equipment. You will fabricate parts from blueprints, perform high-quality MIG and FCAW welds, and ensure all work meets customer specifications and production schedules in a busy custom fabrication shop.
Responsibilities
- Weld assigned parts to meet customer specifications and production schedules using MIG and FCAW processes.
- Fabricate components and assemblies from blueprints and prints, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design requirements.
- Read, analyze, and interpret blueprints to determine dimensions, layout, and welding requirements.
- Fit and position mild steel and stainless steel components prior to welding to ensure proper alignment and fit-up.
- Use measurement tools to verify dimensions and tolerances during fabrication and final inspection.
- Operate welding equipment using MIG .035 and .045 hardwire in accordance with shop standards and safety practices.
- Collaborate with other team members in the shop to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures while operating welding and fabrication equipment.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience in fabrication and welding in a manufacturing or custom fabrication environment.
- Proficiency with MIG welding using .035 and .045 hardwire.
- Experience with FCAW welding processes.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints for fabrication and welding.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills in a fabrication setting.
- Experience working with mild steel and stainless steel materials.
- Ability to perform accurate measurements and use standard measuring tools in metal fabrication.
- Capability to work independently on assigned jobs while meeting production schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in custom metal fabrication is highly beneficial.
- Experience fitting and fabricating off prints for industrial systems.
- Comfort working with a variety of shop equipment such as CNCs, presses, lasers, and welding booths.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and fabrications.

Work Environment
This position is based in a family-run custom fabrication shop that has been in business since 1979. The facility is large and well-equipped, featuring various CNC machines, presses, lasers, and dedicated welding booths. There is ample space for team members to work independently on their projects. The role follows a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing a consistent and predictable work routine in a hands-on, industrial fabrication setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
