We are looking for a Director of AP and AR to lead core payables, cash flow oversight, and team performance in White Plains, New York. This role is responsible for strengthening financial operations through accurate payments, thoughtful forecasting, and consistent vendor support. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to turn reporting insights into practical process improvements.


Responsibilities:

• Lead the timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices while ensuring vendor questions are handled promptly and professionally.

• Manage reconciliations, payment activity, and issue resolution for distributor accounts to maintain strong financial relationships.

• Monitor cash activity, payment patterns, and account variances to highlight risks and opportunities affecting liquidity and service levels.

• Oversee payment forecasting and planning processes, setting team priorities, controls, and measurable objectives that support a healthy cash position.

• Supervise and develop a team of three employees through hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance reviews, and corrective action when needed.

• Provide hands-on support for complex accounting issues, system-related questions, and day-to-day troubleshooting across the department.

• Review team output regularly to verify accuracy, reinforce standards, and improve operational efficiency.

• Prepare and analyze departmental reports and key performance indicators, sharing clear updates and recommendations with staff and senior leadership.

• Maintain vendor records, customer credit reviews, internal loan tracking, and interest-related activities in alignment with accounting policies.

• Escalate significant concerns involving supplier payments, receivables aging, cash flow, borrowing needs, and invoice coding compliance to executive leadership.

• Experience leading accounting or accounts payable operations in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures, general ledger activity, and journal entry review.
• Proven ability to perform account reconciliations and support accurate financial reporting.
• Background working with financial statement audits and maintaining compliance with accounting standards.
• Demonstrated success managing staff, improving processes, and promoting accountability within a team.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess cash flow trends, reporting results, and operational variances.
• Comfortable using accounting systems to resolve technical issues, review data quality, and support process execution.
