Location: Southern West Virginia- Mercer County
Employment Type: Full-Time
Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center is seeking a compassionate and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our interdisciplinary behavioral health team.
In this role, you'll provide advanced clinical care to individuals receiving mental health and substance use disorder services while working alongside physicians, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. What You'll DoAs a Physician Assistant, you will:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health assessments
- Diagnose and treat mental health and substance use disorders within your scope of practice and supervisory agreement
- Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychiatric medications
- Provide Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) when authorized and credentialed
- Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans
- Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary treatment teams to coordinate high-quality patient care
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, hospitals, pharmacies, and community partners
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance activities
- Educate consumers and families regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment options
- Support a person-centered, recovery-focused model of care
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the applicable state
- Current NCCPA certification
- Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and patient confidentiality
- Experience working in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, integrated care, or community mental health
- Experience providing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
- Knowledge of CCBHC and CARF standards
