In-Home Design Consultant - Kitchen & Pantry Solutions

ShelfGenie is looking for an energetic, organized, and relationship-focused Design Consultant to help homeowners create beautiful, functional kitchens, pantries, laundry rooms, and bathrooms using our custom pull-out shelving systems.

This isn't a retail sales job and it isn't cold calling. We provide qualified appointments—you focus on listening to homeowners, designing customized solutions, and delivering an exceptional experience from consultation through the sale.

This is not a traditional retail position or a cold-calling role.

You will meet with homeowners during scheduled in-home consultations, learn how they use their space, and design customized ShelfGenie solutions based on their needs.

You will have the opportunity to build relationships, use creativity, and earn uncapped commission based on your results.

• Measure cabinets accurately
• Design custom pull-out shelving solutions
• Present pricing and confidently ask for the sale
• Coordinate with our installation team
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience from first meeting through installation
• Build referral relationships with happy customers

Who We’re Looking For

Previous sales or design experience is not required.

We are looking for someone who:

• Enjoys working directly with homeowners
• Communicates warmly and professionally
• Is comfortable learning how to sell through consultation
• Is dependable and follows through on commitments
• Pays close attention to measurements and details
• Is comfortable using a tablet, computer, and digital tools
• Can manage appointments and work independently
• Is motivated by commission-based earning potential
• Is coachable and willing to follow a proven process
• Has an interest in home organization, design, remodeling, or improving everyday spaces

Experience in furniture, home improvement, real estate, retail, hospitality, professional organizing, customer service, or interior design may be helpful, but it is not required.

Compensation

This is a commission-only opportunity with uncapped earning potential.

Compensation is based on completed sales and individual performance. Specific commission details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Because earnings are performance-based, this role is best suited for someone who is motivated, self-directed, and comfortable being rewarded for results.

Schedule and Travel

This is a field-based role serving homeowners throughout Lexington and the surrounding Central Kentucky area.

Appointments may occur during weekdays, evenings, or occasional weekends based on customer availability. The consultant must have reliable transportation and be comfortable traveling to clients’ homes.

Training and Support

ShelfGenie provides training in:

• ShelfGenie products and solutions
• In-home consultation techniques
• Measuring and designing spaces
• Presenting recommendations and pricing
• Technology and company systems
• Customer follow-up
• Consultative selling

You will be supported as you learn the role, but you should also be comfortable taking ownership of your schedule, follow-up, and results.
