About This Role

We are currently seeking a Substitute Teacher to join our daycare team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care and education to young children, ensuring their safety, well-being, and social-emotional development. This role involves supervising and engaging children in daily activities, implementing lesson plans, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for early childhood education are essential. What You'll Do

  • Maintain daily classroom routines, schedules, and behavior expectations to ensure a smooth and productive learning environment.
  • Implement lesson plans and activities provided by the lead teacher or director, engaging children in age-appropriate educational, play, and creative activities.
  • Assist with meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, and nap time as needed, promoting a nurturing and supportive atmosphere for young children.
  • Communicate effectively with daycare staff regarding classroom needs or concerns, ensuring a collaborative and cohesive team effort.
  • Monitor and support children’s social, emotional, and developmental needs, providing guidance and encouragement to foster growth and development.
  • Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques, promoting a safe and respectful environment for all children.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, taking immediate action in the event of an emergency.
  • Follow all center policies, state regulations, and health and safety procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education and care.


Requirements

  • At least 2 credits or one noncredit, department-approved course in early childhood education before completing 240 cumulative hours of work as a substitute.
  • Is at least 18 years of age.
