Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Child Care and Special Needs Professional to provide dedicated support to children with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, and other disabilities. In this role, you will create a safe, nurturing environment that promotes growth, independence, and well-being. Your expertise will help children develop essential life skills while ensuring their physical and emotional safety. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families through engaging caregiving and specialized support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), including feeding, dressing, grooming, and hygiene routines
  • Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and social skills
  • Support children with communication needs using techniques such as American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication methods
  • Facilitate engaging activities that foster developmental growth, social interaction, and learning
  • Collaborate with families, educators, therapists, and behavioral health professionals to deliver comprehensive care

Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or other special needs preferred
  • Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health strategies
  • Familiarity with behavior management techniques and assisting with ADLs in a caregiving setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively using verbal skills or alternative methods such as American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Home & community care experience is highly valued
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record for transportation responsibilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with children, families, and team members
  • Ability to document observations accurately through data collection methods
  • Passion for child care, social work principles, and supporting individuals with disabilities
