Job Description
Senior RF Antenna Development Technician
San Diego, CA
80-100k+ DOE
Advanced RF • Antenna Arrays • Prototyping • Hands-On Engineering
If you’re the person others call when an antenna design doesn’t meet spec, this is the opportunity to work on technically challenging RF systems where your hands-on expertise directly influences product performance.
We’re seeking a seasoned RF/Antenna professional who thrives in the lab—not someone who only runs simulations or production tests. You’ll collaborate closely with RF engineers to build, tune, troubleshoot, and optimize advanced antenna systems used in demanding communications and mission-critical applications.
What You’ll Do
- Build, prototype, tune, and troubleshoot advanced RF antenna systems and arrays.
- Perform RF measurements using VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.
- Optimize antenna performance including gain, bandwidth, return loss, polarization, phase matching, efficiency, and VSWR.
- Support new product development, prototype validation, engineering changes, and manufacturing problem-solving.
- Work across engineering, manufacturing, and mechanical teams to bring designs from concept through production.
- Mentor junior technical staff while serving as a senior technical contributor.
We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of hands-on RF antenna development, prototyping, and testing (exceptional candidates with slightly less experience are encouraged to apply).
- US Citizens only (able to obtain security clearance.)
- Deep experience with antenna arrays and practical RF troubleshooting—not just simulation.
- Strong bench skills using VNA and RF test equipment.
- Experience with passive and active RF circuits, antenna tuning, and interpreting radiation pattern data.
- Ability to collaborate with RF engineers on design refinement and hardware implementation.
- Experience with HFSS, CST, or similar EM tools is beneficial but practical prototype and debug experience is valued most.
Nice to Have
- Defense, aerospace, satellite, wireless infrastructure, or advanced communications experience.
- MIMO, beamforming, RF PCB, or radome knowledge.
This is a 100% onsite laboratory role for someone who enjoys solving difficult RF problems, building hardware, and seeing designs become real products. If you’re ready to make a significant technical impact while working alongside an experienced engineering team, we’d like to hear from you.
