About This Role
This full-time, benefits eligible position offers a unique opportunity to participate in food production for a retail restaurant serving the on-campus and Manhattan community and to work as part of a team dedicated to providing and supporting a "guest first" service culture. Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Provides leadership and oversight for kitchen operations with a focus on food production, staff training, sanitation, and operational efficiency.
- Actively participates in food production and is involved in playing a key role in delivering a high-quality dining experience and supports the success of a self-sustaining food service operation through effective leadership, quality assurance, and customer service.
- Oversees inventory by ordering food, supplies, and cleaning materials, while ensuring the accuracy of deliveries and invoices.
Serves as the culinary lead by organizing daily production schedules and preparation lists. - Maintains compliance with all food safety standards.
(HDS) is a large, complex, self-operated auxiliary department employing about 1,000 full and part-time staff. This position is On-site.

What You'll Need to SucceedMinimum Qualifications:
- Requires one year of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school graduation/GED
- One year of experience in full service, fast casual restaurant, or commercial/institutional kitchen
- From scratch volume food production experience
- Lead worker or supervisory experience
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to learn to perform basic math computations; to accurately weigh and measure ingredients
- Ability to use and care for equipment and handle food safely while preparing high quality products
