Job Title: General Machine Operator (2nd Shift)

Job Description

This role involves operating a variety of general production machines and equipment in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on processing pin orders accurately and on time. You will use hand and power tools to set up, adjust, and maintain machines, ensure consistent product quality, and support continuous improvement initiatives during the 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of general machines such as tumblers, stamp presses, and other production equipment in the pin department.
  • Use hand and power tools to set up, adjust, and maintain machines to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Process all incoming pin orders accurately and in a timely manner, following established procedures and priorities.
  • Inspect parts during and after production to maintain quality control standards and identify defects or irregularities.
  • Write and complete tags and documentation for all orders to ensure accurate tracking and recordkeeping.
  • Plan and execute small projects related to production, equipment, or workflow improvements as assigned.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely completion of independent work, meeting production schedules and deadlines.
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues on machines and equipment and escalate more complex problems when necessary.
  • Participate actively in continuous improvement activities and suggestion systems to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Perform general labor tasks such as assembly, packaging, and material handling as needed to support production.
  • Read and interpret basic prints or instructions to correctly set up and operate equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Essential Skills

  • Experience as a general machine operator or in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to operate production equipment such as tumblers, stamp presses, and other general machines.
  • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for machine setup, adjustment, and basic maintenance.
  • Capability to troubleshoot basic mechanical issues on equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret simple prints or work instructions.
  • Comfort performing general labor tasks including assembly, packaging, and machine operation.
  • Attention to detail to maintain quality control and accurately process orders and documentation.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Reliability to work 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage independent work and meet production schedules.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a pin department or similar production area is beneficial.
  • Experience in production, assembly, or general labor roles.
  • Familiarity with stamping or stamp press operations.
  • Experience with continuous improvement or suggestion systems.
  • Comfort working with basic quality control processes and inspection methods.

Work Environment

The environment can be noisy and, depending on the machine you operate, it may occasionally be a little smelly. The role requires standing for long periods, performing repetitive tasks, lifting up to 45 pounds, and handling packaging, assembly, and general labor duties. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety while working with machines and tools.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
