Position Summary:\n
\n
\nResponsible for the daily operation of Schweitzer Utility & Water Company’s water and wastewater systems.\n
\n
Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:\n
\n
Water System:\n
\n

\n
• Ensure proper treatment and distribution of domestic water supply for public consumption.
\n
• Maintain overall safety and security of the water storage system.
\n
• Operational Monitoring to Track production and flow volumes.
\n

\n

\n
• Perform maintenance and repair of supply, storage, and distribution systems.
\n
• Install or replace new or repaired equipment.
\n
• Respond to field maintenance issues as needed.
\n

\n

\n
• Maintain daily records and documentation to comply with DEQ and other relevant regulations.
\n
• Adhere to water testing requirements per DEQ.
\n
• Develop a strong understanding of system infrastructure.
\n

\n
\n
Wastewater System:\n
\n

\n
• Operate wastewater storage lagoons, treatment, and land application systems as instructed.
\n
• Monitoring and Record-Keeping to ensure compliance with DEQ permit parameters.
\n

\n

\n
• Monitor and record inflow into storage lagoons.
\n
• Distribute wastewater via land application to designated areas using drip irrigation systems, adhering to hydraulic and nutrient loading parameters.
\n
• Collect water samples from monitoring wells, storage facilities, and waterways to ensure compliance with established standards.
\n

\n
• Respond to field maintenance issues as needed.
\n
• Maintain environmental and operational safety and security of wastewater collection, storage, and distribution systems.
\n
• Develop a strong understanding of system infrastructure.
\n

\n
Specific Job Skills:\n
\n
\n License/Certifications - We will assist you acquire the required state certifications for Level 1 water and wastewater system operators. Will maintain certifications annually through required continuing education seminars. \n
\n
\n Technical - Must have working knowledge in the use of hand and power tools and be mechanically inclined with good trouble-shooting skills. Familiarity with, and ability to operate, heavy equipment helpful. Familiarity with plumbing and pipe installation helpful. Basic computer skills (data entry) required.\n
\n
\n Physical Capabilities - Able to lift up to 50 lbs on your own and with assistance up to 100lbs. Expected to stand/walk entirety of shift. Will regularly walk on slick and slippery surfaces.\n
\n
\n Additional - Strong initiative and guest service skills are preferred.\n
\n
Education/Related Experience:\n
\n
\n Minimum education required - GED or Highschool Diploma\n
\n
\n Minimum time in related position - at least 6 months experience preferred
