Equipment Operator A - Torrance State Hospital

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays an important role in supporting hospital operations by transporting people, goods and equipment.

As an Equipment Operator A, you will perform the following duties:

• Vehicle Operation: Operate various vehicles to transport patients, staff and materials
• Equipment Use: Handle loaders, mowers, tractors and other mechanical equipment
• Safety Checks: Complete inspections and follow procedures to ensure safe operations
• Manual Labor: Carry out physical tasks such as unloading trucks and grounds care
• Maintenance Tasks: Perform minor repairs and assist mechanics when needed
• Documentation: Fill out required forms, records and mileage sheets for daily activity

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • 7 days on working 7:00am - 3:00pm - 2 weekend days off
  • 3 days on working 7:00am - 3:00pm - 2 week days off.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training

Necessary Special Requirement:

• You must have possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
