Located in beautiful Honesdale, PA, Wayne County Behavioral Health & Intellectual Disabilities agency is looking for a part time Residential Program Worker. This career is where you can make an impact. Are passionate about helping others reach their full potential?


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position assists people who are returning to the community after mental health hospitalization and those who are staying in our residential facility to prevent premature hospitalization. Work supports seriously mentally ill (SMI) consumers' efforts to reintegrate into or remain in their community, thus fostering their success in recovery and in building the confidence and self-reliance needed for full independent living. As a part-time Residential Program Worker, you will perform the following duties:

  • Direct Support: Build rapport and trust with consumers; work in close contact with consumers in their home environment, an apartment within our residential facility
  • Goal Alignment: Supports consumers' efforts consistent with their Individual Service Plan (ISP) in implementing goals, plans, and objectives
  • Skill Training: Teach skills such as budgeting, nutrition, hygiene, laundry, home care, and home safety protocols
  • Progress Monitoring: Documents observations of consumer behaviors and progress in a timely manner and share observations with treatment team members, as appropriate
  • Other Assistance: Help arrange for transportation or transport consumer to appointments in a county vehicle when necessary


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, approximately 15-20 hours per week.
  • Work hours are typically 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with 30-minute lunch. Work days are typically Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Often irregular hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends may be required.
  • Employee may have occasional overnight travel or out of County travel for meetings or training.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a Residential Program Trainee; or
  • One year of experience in a Human Services Agency working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, the elderly, or children and youth; or
  • Two years of college which includes courses appropriate to the Human Services field; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
