THE POSITION

As a Social Worker 2 for the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill, you help inmates address challenges and build stronger paths forward. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides social work and case management services that support inmate well-being and reentry preparation at SCI Camp Hill. As a Social Worker 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Program Coordination: Coordinate social service programs and provide counseling, crisis support, and guidance to inmates and families
  • Caseload Management: Maintain records, prepare reports, and communicate with staff and agencies to support case management
  • Reentry Planning: Assist with parole preparation, facilitate reentry groups, and coordinate community transition plans
  • Continuity Of Care: Provide follow-up services for inmates placed in the community to support ongoing success
  • Policy Application: Apply federal, state, and departmental policies and procedures to daily social work activities
  • Complaint Review: Investigate concerns or allegations and verify related information with appropriate resources

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment); or
  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; or
  • Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; or
  • A master's degree in social work or social welfare.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.


Special Requirement:
  • You must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification within two months of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment in the job.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
