Position Overview

The Events Sales Manager is responsible for driving, booking, planning, and executing private events, group dining, and small group stays at The Abner Hotel. This role is both sales-driven and operationally hands-on — ideal for someone who enjoys selling the event and being on the floor making it exceptional.

This position works closely with hotel leadership, food & beverage, and the Salt Hotels sales team to ensure events are thoughtfully designed, financially successful, and delivered with genuine hospitality

The Job

Sales & Business Development

  • Proactively sell private events, group dining, and small group stays for the hotel, restaurant, and rooftop

  • Respond to inbound event inquiries and actively prospect local, regional, and repeat business

  • Build strong relationships with local businesses, planners, creatives, and community partners

  • Conduct site tours and act as the primary point of contact from inquiry through execution

  • Prepare proposals, contracts, and event orders in alignment with brand standards and pricing guidelines

  • Continuously seek new opportunities

  • Maintain knowledge of the competition and its offerings

Event Planning & Execution

  • Plan and execute events from start to finish, including timelines, guest flow, room setups, and service style

  • Work on-site during events as needed to ensure seamless execution and exceptional guest experience

  • Partner closely with the Executive Chef and F&B leadership on menus, beverage selections, and event logistics

  • Oversee event setup, breakdown, and service coordination with internal teams

  • Handle real-time problem solving and service recovery with confidence and grace

Revenue & Programming

  • Drive event revenue while maintaining profitability and operational efficiency

  • Support seasonal and ongoing programming initiatives that drive community engagement

  • Track leads, conversions, and event performance to inform future sales strategy

  • Collaborate with hotel leadership on pricing, packages, and revenue-driving ideas

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with guests, vendors, and internal teams

  • Create a calm, confident, and welcoming presence during high-energy events

  • Support a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment


The Rest

  • Ensure events align with local, state, and regulatory requirements, including liquor laws

  • Protect the reputation of The Abner Hotel through thoughtful execution and guest care

  • Maintain accurate event documentation, billing, and post-event follow-up

  • Represent the hotel as a respected and engaged member of the Litchfield community

Experience & Skills
  • 2–5 years of experience in event sales, catering sales, or hospitality events

  • Strong food & beverage knowledge and comfort working live events

  • Highly organized with excellent communication and follow-through

  • Sales-minded, guest-focused, and unflappable under pressure

  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as events require
