Security Operation Center Officer (SOC Operator)
Site: Rahway, New Jersey
Shifts Available: 1500-2300 and 2300-0700
Pay rate: $26.50
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technologically savvy Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator to support our Security Operations Center. This role is critical in monitoring systems, identifying risks, and ensuring timely escalation and communication of security-related activity. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in security, situational awareness, and the ability to interpret and act on information from multiple systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems, alarms, and CCTV feeds to identify unusual activity, potential risks, and security incidents
- Maintain heightened awareness and respond appropriately to alarms, safety issues, and emerging situations
- Accurately interpret CCTV and system data and determine next steps, including notifications, escalation, and documentation
- Prepare clear, detailed written reports and provide timely verbal notifications to appropriate stakeholders
- Utilize technology-based security platforms and tools as part of daily operations
- Work collaboratively with site leadership and control personnel who manage response actions
- Conduct system checks to ensure all monitoring equipment is functioning properly
- Track and escalate suspicious activity or operational concerns
- Support investigations by reviewing video footage and compiling evidence
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and security procedures
- Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a professional present.
Please note: SOC Operators typically monitor video and systems at a workstation or desk; response actions are coordinated through designated personnel.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or GED Required.
- Security experience may vary, but must include:
- Prior leadership experience or documented training demonstrating advanced situational awareness
- Experience responding to risks, unusual activity, and alarm events
- Relevant experience with technology-based security systems (GSOC, SOC, or similar environments preferred)
- CCTV experience with a clear understanding of:
- How to analyze what is being viewed
- What actions are taken with that information
- Proper reporting, notifications, and escalation procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and focused in fast-paced or high-pressure situations
- Ability to prepare and distribute daily weather reports that may impact employee movement, site operations, or security activities.
- Active NJ SORA license or the ability to obtain one, valid driver's license, and open availability is required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a GSOC or SOC environment
- Previous supervisory experience
- Familiarity with report writing related to security incidents
- Experience working with monitoring platforms, alarm management systems, and access control technology
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
