Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and highly organized Part-Time Chef to prepare, cook, and package meals in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment. This position is ideal for a chef who has hands-on experience managing high-volume food production, maintaining efficient kitchen workflow, and consistently delivering quality meals while meeting strict timelines.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently, managing the production line efficiently, and ensuring all meals are prepared, portioned, and packaged accurately. The position requires approximately 2 hours per day.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare daily meals and snacks according to the approved menu and recipes.
- Efficiently manage the kitchen production line to ensure meals are prepared, portioned, and packed on schedule.
- Maintain a high level of organization and productivity in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment.
- Portion and package meals accurately for distribution while maintaining presentation and consistency.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen throughout the shift.
- Label, store, and rotate food products using proper food storage practices.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations after production.
- Monitor ingredient inventory and notify management when supplies require replenishment.
- Assist in maintaining quality control and minimizing food waste.
Qualifications
- Required: Previous experience working as a chef or lead cook in a commercial kitchen, catering operation, restaurant, commissary, or other high-volume food production environment.
- Required: Demonstrated experience managing a fast-paced production line and consistently meeting preparation and packaging deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of commercial food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Thorough understanding of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP principles.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift typical kitchen supplies and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one before starting).
- Experience preparing meals for schools, childcare centers, healthcare facilities, or institutional food service.
- Experience with batch cooking, meal portioning, and large-scale meal preparation.
