JOB OVERVIEW

Hale Kau Kau is seeking a motivated and relationship-focused Part-Time Development Director to strengthen our fundraising, donor relations, grant development, and long-term financial sustainability.

The Development Director will work with the Program Director, Advisory Board, and Fundraising Chair to develop fundraising strategies, care for donors, pursue grant opportunities, and support Hale Kau Kau’s mission of providing nutritious meals to the hungry and homebound.

DUTIES

  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, businesses, foundations, parishioners, and community partners.
  • Coordinate donor acknowledgments, thank-you letters, impact reports, and other communications.
  • Develop and carry out fundraising strategies, campaigns, annual appeals, and special events.
  • Identify and cultivate prospective donors and community partners.
  • Research local, state, federal, corporate, and foundation grant opportunities.
  • Prepare grant proposals, budgets, supporting documents, and required reports.
  • Maintain a calendar of grant, fundraising, and reporting deadlines.
  • Assist with accurate and timely billing, reimbursement requests, and supporting documentation.
  • Track fundraising results and provide updates to the Program Director and Advisory Board.
  • Help prepare newsletters, fundraising letters, presentations, and outreach materials.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in fundraising, donor relations, grant writing, nonprofit development, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets, and online research.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Commitment to Hale Kau Kau’s mission and ability to work respectfully within a Catholic parish environment.
  • Previous nonprofit or community-service experience is preferred.
