Job Description
About The Back Clinic
The Back Clinic is a PT-owned outpatient practice that has served the Wilmington, Delaware community for over 40 years. We are known for one model of care, applied consistently: every session is one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, in a private treatment room, with a plan built around the individual patient. No aides running exercise circuits, no therapist juggling three patients at once, no productivity quotas dictating what care looks like.
Our team includes specialists across pelvic floor, vestibular, TMJ, post-surgical, and orthopedic rehabilitation, and our facility includes private treatment rooms and a heated therapy pool. We track outcomes with objective measures and standardized tools because we believe clinical accountability is part of doing this work well.
The Opportunity
We are hiring a Physical Therapist to join our outpatient team, full-time or part-time. You'll treat a general orthopedic caseload — spine, post-surgical, sports and overuse injuries, balance and mobility — in a setting built to let you actually do the work: protected one-on-one time, private treatment rooms, and no double-booking. Whether you're an experienced clinician or a new graduate, you'll have the schedule and the mentorship to build strong plans of care and see them through. Newer clinicians work alongside a multidisciplinary team of specialists to learn from; experienced clinicians have the autonomy to run their caseload their way. There's also room to grow into a specialty over time — several of our service lines started with a therapist who wanted to develop one.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate and treat a general outpatient orthopedic caseload across all ages, from post-surgical rehabilitation to spine, sports, and overuse injuries
- Build individualized plans of care using manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and patient education
- Track patient progress with objective outcome measures and adjust care accordingly
- Deliver true one-on-one care in a private treatment room — no aides running circuits, no double-booking
- Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team on co-managed and complex cases
What We're Looking For
- Licensed Physical Therapist in Delaware (DPT or equivalent), or actively pursuing DE licensure
- New graduates are welcome — we provide mentorship and structured support as you build your caseload
- Sound clinical reasoning and a patient-centered communication style
- Interest in hands-on, one-on-one care and in tracking outcomes objectively
Nice to Have
- Outpatient orthopedic experience
- Manual therapy training or certification
- Training or interest in a specialty area — pelvic health, vestibular, TMJ, or post-surgical rehab — that you'd like to develop with us
What We Offer
- A practice model that protects your time with patients — one-on-one care, private rooms, no double-booking
- Compensation commensurate with experience, plus full-time benefits (full-time roles)
- Continuing education support — we want our therapists building their skills, not getting away from patient care
- Mentorship and peer learning across a multidisciplinary specialist team
- Clinical autonomy with the backing of a 40-year-old, PT-owned practice
- Flexible full-time or part-time scheduling
Benefits:
- 401(k)
- 401(k) matching
- Continuing education credits
- Flexible schedule
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
