Job Description
We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a construction company in Colorado Springs, Colorado in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent position. This position centers on running accurate weekly payroll for a workforce that includes both hourly field staff and salaried employees, while also supporting timekeeping review and payroll-related administration. The role offers the opportunity to expand into broader HR support over time, making it a strong fit for someone who is highly organized, discreet, and comfortable working with recurring deadlines.
Responsibilities:
• Administer weekly payroll, ensuring pay is processed accurately and on schedule for both hourly and salaried staff.
• Collect, review, and validate employee time entries, with particular attention to submissions from field teams and job-site personnel.
• Communicate with employees and supervisors to resolve missing hours, incomplete timecards, and other payroll discrepancies before processing deadlines.
• Monitor paid time off or leave-related balances and apply payroll updates as needed to keep employee records current.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and generate weekly reporting that supports general ledger review and accounting accuracy.
• Maintain payroll calendars and prioritize work to ensure key weekly processing milestones are completed on time.
• Provide administrative support in partnership with HR as responsibilities broaden beyond payroll into employee-related coordination.
• Handle payroll data and personnel information with a high degree of confidentiality, precision, and professionalism
• Prior experience processing payroll, preferably in construction, contractor, or other field-based environments with weekly cycles.
• Strong working knowledge of timecard review, payroll balancing, and resolving pay-related exceptions.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Comfortable working independently and collaborating closely with accounting and HR teams.
• Experience supporting payroll reporting and tracking leave, time off, or related payroll adjustments.
• Background in full cycle payroll; experience with multi-state payroll or large employee populations is an advantage
