• 14 Labor & Delivery beds

• 6 OB triage beds
\n
• 2 C-section OR suites
\n
• 28 Postpartum beds
\n
• Approximately 250 births per month
\n
• 12-hour day shifts
\n
• Every other weekend
\n
• No call (may be placed on standby)
\n
• Float to Postpartum as needed (Postpartum nurses do not float to L&D)
\n
• Cerner EMR
\n

Required License / Certifications

\n

\n
• Active CA RN license at submission
\n
• BLS
\n
• ACLS
\n
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN)
\n
• NRP
\n
• COVID-19 vaccination required
\n

\n

Required Experience

\n

\n
• Labor & Delivery experience
\n
• C-section circulating experience required
\n
• Scrubbing experience preferred
\n

Patient Population

\n

\n
• Laboring patients of all gestational ages
\n
• Antepartum
\n
• High-risk pregnancies
\n
• High-risk deliveries
\n
• Substance use disorders
\n
• Pre-eclampsia
\n
• Insulin-dependent diabetes
\n

\n

Patient Ratios

\n

\n
• Labor: 1:2 (following AWHONN guidelines)
\n
• Postpartum: 1:4 couplet care
\n

\n

Unit Details

\n
• Fetal Link fetal monitoring system
\n
• Charge nurse typically without a patient assignment
\n
• OB Tech coverage on days and nights
\n
• Phillips telemetry
\n
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
\n
• OB/Neonatologist on call as needed (not in-house)
\n

\n

• Three unit-specific orientation shifts
\n
• Level III Trauma Center
\n
• Hospital-provided seal blue scrubs for L navy scrubs for Postpartum nurses
\n
• First to float: every other weekend rotation as applicable.
