Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with General Surgery experience for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring prior travel experience.

Details\n

\n
• Work in the General OR unit of a hospital setting
\n
• 13-week contract assignment
\n
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours with flexible start times (6:45 AM-3:15 PM or 10:45 AM-7:15 PM)
\n
• 40 hours per week guaranteed work week
\n
• Call required up to 12 hours per week (Monday 7 PM through Friday 7 AM) plus 12 hours of weekend call (Friday 7 PM-Sunday 7 PM)
\n
• Every other holiday coverage required
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active RN license - Compact or MD license required
\n
• Current BLS certification required
\n
• Minimum 2 years of General Surgery experience required
\n
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience within the last 7 years required
\n
• Prior travel nursing assignment experience required
\n
• Experience with General Surgery procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, mastectomy, and thyroidectomy
\n
• Orthopedic surgery experience preferred, including arthroscopy, arthrotomy, carpal tunnel release, fracture reductions, laminectomy/discectomy, and total joint replacement
\n
• Knowledge of infection control, specimen handling/labeling, and Universal Protocol (time out) procedures
\n
• Driver's license required at time of consideration
\n

Additional Information\n

\n
• Provide perioperative nursing care in the General OR, including surgical case preparation and support
\n
• Perform emergency management duties including code response and fire safety procedures
\n
• Scrubs are provided
\n
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
\n
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted per 13-week contract
\n
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
\n
• Previous employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
\n
• First-time travelers are not eligible; at least one prior travel assignment is required
\n
