Job Description
Ready to Solve What Others Can’t?

Do you excel at chasing intermittent electrical faults, dialing in A/C performance, and validating repairs with a proper road test? Join Zūm to keep student transportation safe and on schedule—one accurate diagnosis at a time.

In This Role, You Will
  • Diagnose and repair major systems—steering, electrical, cooling, lubrication, brakes, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions, and oil/temperature/gas regulating components—within your qualification level and in accordance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial, and local guidelines.
  • Assist Tech I’s with engine, transmission, and differential rebuilds per manager assignment.
  • Leverage test drives during Preventative Maintenance and post-repair to verify concerns and confirm fixes.
  • Obtain all required inspections/approvals before releasing vehicles from the maintenance facility.
  • Identify and communicate additional repair needs, including work for higher-qualification technicians.
  • Follow direction from the manager or lead on supervised tasks.
  • Document labor time, parts usage, and work performed on the proper forms.
  • Respond to road calls and complete on-the-road repairs.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and compliant workspace that meets company housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Report unsafe conditions, practices, or vehicle abuse to the Lead Technician.
  • Work the assigned shift and overtime as needed (AM/PM).
What Helps You Thrive
  • You’re a developing technician who enjoys variety, learns quickly from senior techs, and takes ownership of results.
  • You’re fluent with diagnostic tools, excel at electrical and A/C troubleshooting, and keep thorough records.
Qualifications Basic
  • 2–4 years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
  • Diagnostic, Electrical, and A/C skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment.
  • Fleet background with both diesel and gasoline systems.
  • Recommended minimum hand tools for a Medium/Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician.
  • Good judgment and decision-making.
  • Proficient in Diesel Engine Systems.
Preferred
  • Valid CDL License (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
  • ASE certifications in brakes, suspension, engine, electrical, A/C; or Master School Bus/Truck Technician.
Why It Matters

Every accurate diagnosis and quality repair you complete helps ensure safe rides for students and dependable service for our communities.
