We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department and ensure the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care.

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations, clinical standards of care, and facility policies.

The ideal Director of Nursing (DON) will have proven leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility, a strong understanding of long-term care regulations, and a successful history working with regulatory surveys. The DON must be a strong, fair, and effective leader who can communicate clearly with residents, families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Nursing Services Department.

  • Ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained for all residents.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and long-term care standards.

  • Lead, manage, and support nursing staff while promoting teamwork and accountability.

  • Monitor clinical outcomes, quality measures, and resident care plans.

  • Prepare the nursing department for regulatory surveys and ensure ongoing compliance.

  • Collaborate with the Administrator, Medical Director, and interdisciplinary team.

  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and healthcare providers.

  • Provide guidance and leadership during challenging clinical and operational situations.

  • Support staff development, education, training, and performance management.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure adherence to facility policies and procedures.

  • Promote a culture of professionalism, compassion, safety, and resident-centered care.

Job Requirements
  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Director of Nursing (DON) in a skilled nursing facility.

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local long-term care regulations.

  • Proven experience with regulatory surveys and compliance.

  • Strong clinical, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to respond calmly and professionally in challenging situations.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred.

  • BSN preferred.

  • Geriatric and long-term care experience strongly preferred.
