Greenhouse Technician – Labor 

Our client, in Johnston, IA is seeking a Greenhouse Technician to work in a research setting. The position will assist with executing plant care, taking samples, transferring plants and performing sanitation tasks. The ideal candidate will be a hard worker, love to learn, and will have experience in plant care, horticulture, or agriculture. 

  Job Title: Greenhouse Technician 

Location: Johnston, IA 

Pay Range: $21+ 

What’s the Job? 

• Daily greenhouse plant care, including seeding, pollinating, transporting, watering, harvesting, and seed handling for various crops. 

• Cut and store samples of plant tissue and delivery of laboratory analysis.  

• Assist with experiments, collecting data, and maintaining records. 

• Perform routine greenhouse sanitation tasks like discarding regulated material and removing waste  

What’s Needed? 

• HS Diploma/GED. AA/BA preferred in agriculture, horticulture, plant physiology or molecular biology, or 2 years of equivalent experience.  

• Valid driver’s license 

• Strong attention to detail and basic computer skills 

• Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, extensive walking, and lift up to 30 lbs. 

• Able to work in a warm, humid greenhouse with pollen present year-round 

 What’s in it for me? 

• 1st shift hours: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Mon-Fri with rotational weekend work and rotational holidays. 

• Weekly pay 

• Bonus: $500 paid after 6 months, $1000 paid after 12 months. 

What's Needed?

• High school diploma or GED required; relevant experience or education in agriculture, horticulture, or biology preferred.
• Experience with machinery operation and adherence to safety protocols is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office programs and research software.
