Medical Biller / Back Office Support
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Job Type: Full-time
Work Setting: Personal injury chiropractic clinic
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, organized, and dependable Medical Biller / Back Office Support team member to join a growing personal injury chiropractic clinic. This unique role combines medical billing responsibilities with hands-on back-office patient support. The ideal candidate has strong medical office experience, excellent attention to detail, and a patient-first approach in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Billing Duties
· Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, copays, deductibles, visit limits, and prior authorization requirements before appointments.
· Update patient demographic and insurance information accurately.
· Explain patient financial responsibility in a professional and helpful manner.
· Enter charges accurately into the practice management system.
· Review documentation for completeness and identify missing or incorrect information before claims submission.
· Use CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes appropriately when applicable.
Claims, Payments, and Accounts Receivable
· Prepare, review, and submit electronic and paper insurance claims.
· Monitor claim acceptance, rejection, unpaid, denied, and delayed claim reports.
· Submit corrected claims and appeals when needed.
· Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
· Apply adjustments according to payer contracts.
· Reconcile payments with EOBs and ERAs.
· Work aging reports to improve collections and reduce outstanding balances.
· Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and payment issues.
Patient Billing and Administrative Support
· Generate patient statements and answer billing questions professionally.
· Collect copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and outstanding balances.
· Set up payment plans when appropriate and follow clinic collection policies.
· Coordinate with providers and front desk staff to resolve documentation or insurance issues.
· Keep payer information current and stay informed of insurance policy changes.
· Prepare reports related to accounts receivable, collections, denials, outstanding claims, revenue, and aging.
· Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and accurate, audit-ready billing records.
Back Office / Rehabilitation Support
· Assist with chiropractor-directed therapies after training is provided.
· Support patient care during treatments such as electrical stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound, hot pack therapy, and chiropractic therapy support.
· Prepare treatment rooms, equipment, and supplies for patient visits.
· Interact with patients in a professional, compassionate, and service-oriented manner.
· Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient clinic environment.
Qualifications
· 3+ years of medical office experience preferred.
· Medical billing experience required; chiropractic billing experience preferred.
· Personal injury clinic experience preferred.
· Knowledge of insurance verification, claims processing, payment posting, denials, appeals, and accounts receivable follow-up.
· Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, EHR/EMR systems, and billing software.
· Understanding of Medicare and commercial insurance requirements.
· Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.
· Excellent organization, multitasking, communication, and customer service skills.
· Dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work well in a fast-paced clinic setting.
· No license or certification required.
