Generator Tech III

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, repair, and service commercial diesel, natural gas, and propane generators.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on power generation equipment.
• Execute load bank testing to verify generator performance and output.
• Troubleshoot AC/DC generator controls, electrical distribution systems, wiring, and engine components.
• Rewire, install, and adjust generator and engine components, including voltage and speed controls.
• Inspect oil, coolant, filters, hoses, batteries, chargers, exhaust systems, and related components.
• Repair overhead and bottom-end engine components.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment including multimeters, ammeters, megohmmeters, and manufacturer diagnostic software.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Accurately document repairs, inspections, and service work.
• Assist with training and mentoring other technicians as needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment while following all company safety policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of commercial generator technician experience.
• Experience working on a wide variety of generator manufacturers and models.
• Strong experience with diesel and natural gas generators.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience using diagnostic software and electrical testing equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills.
• Valid driver's license required.
