Job Description

The Accounting Associate will play an integral role in the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. This position supports multiple affiliated entities and works closely with management to ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and efficient accounting processes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable, including invoice coding and vendor payments.
  • Record cash receipts and deposits.
  • Assist with accounts receivable, tenant charges, and collections.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close.
  • Maintain vendor files and accounting documentation.
  • Support payroll and employee reimbursement processing.
  • Assist with preparation of financial reports and audit documentation.
  • Work with multiple entities and maintain organized accounting records for each.
  • Communicate professionally with vendors, tenants, and internal staff.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Yardi, Sage, or similar ERP systems preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • High degree of integrity and confidentiality.


Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following is a plus:

  • Property management accounting
  • Affordable housing or nonprofit accounting
  • Multi-entity accounting
  • Grant reporting
  • Budget preparation
  • Audit support
