Job Title: Building Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Building Maintenance Technician will perform a wide range of repairs, maintenance, and servicing of building facilities, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and heating and air systems in a hospital and clinic environment. This role focuses on general building and facilities maintenance, including lighting, drywall, painting, and preventive maintenance, to ensure safe, reliable, and comfortable spaces for patients, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform general building and facilities maintenance in hospital and clinic settings, including patient rooms, offices, cafeteria, restrooms, corridors, and common areas.
- Carry out routine and corrective repairs on building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry components.
- Service and maintain heating and air systems, and support work involving pumps, motors, boilers, condensers, refrigeration units, and related equipment as needed.
- Change and repair lighting fixtures and ballasts to ensure proper illumination throughout the facility.
- Patch, repair, and finish drywall surfaces and perform painting to maintain clean and professional interior spaces.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively, including screwdrivers, wrenches, saws, grinders, and similar tools, for repair and maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment such as HVAC units, plumbing fixtures, boilers, refrigeration systems, kitchen equipment, and pumps.
- Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact on facility operations.
- Collaborate with a team of maintenance and engineering technicians and provide support or coverage for other technicians when needed.
- Work across multiple facility areas, including both the main hospital and clinic, as assigned.
- Interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner while performing work in occupied spaces.
- Follow safety procedures and facility guidelines to maintain a secure and hazard-free environment.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks according to facility standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, including basic understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
- Experience with refrigeration systems and condensers is a plus.
- Ability to perform kitchen equipment maintenance and repair is helpful.
- Flexibility to work Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays and holidays as needed.
- Comfort working as part of a larger maintenance and engineering team of multiple technicians.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to adapt to different work areas and tasks within both hospital and clinic facilities.
This is a Contract position based out of Merced, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
