Job Description
Senior Mechanical Engineer - Revit Exp Required

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects. The role focuses on HVAC, piping and ductwork systems, pressure calculations, and detailed modeling using Revit. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliant, efficient, and constructible solutions from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical system design for HVAC, piping, and ductwork across commercial and industrial projects, ensuring performance, code compliance, and constructability.
  • Develop detailed calculations for heating/cooling loads, pressure drops, pump and fan sizing, and system balancing; review and verify calculations from junior engineers.
  • Create and manage Revit models and BIM deliverables, coordinating with architects and other engineering disciplines to maintain model integrity and clash-free construction documents.
  • Prepare and review mechanical construction drawings, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates; ensure documentation meets project and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance, design reviews, and professional development support.
  • Coordinate with contractors, fabricators, and vendors to resolve design issues during procurement and construction; support site visits, commissioning, and startup activities as required.
  • Perform value engineering, constructability reviews, and risk assessments to optimize designs for performance and cost.
  • Ensure designs adhere to applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, local building and mechanical codes) and maintain quality control procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent); Masters degree or professional engineering (PE) license preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in HVAC, piping, and duct system design for commercial or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency with Revit and BIM workflows; experience creating and coordinating complex Revit models.
  • Strong background in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics with proven ability to perform pressure drop and system performance calculations, pump and fan sizing, and load calculations.
  • Experience with mechanical codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA) and familiarity with local permitting processes.
  • Proven ability to lead projects, manage deliverables, and mentor junior staff; excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Familiarity with construction practices, commissioning processes, and experience resolving field issues during construction.
  • Proficiency with engineering analysis tools and software for calculations (e.g., HAP, TRACE, AutoPIPE) and general office software (e.g., MS Office).
